Ive shown my mother a load of pics of what the camp used to look like going through to what it is now. She was really disapointed as it was such a nice place she said.

Last Supper!!

I've told Yvonne this story but not published it till now. We used to visit MT three times a year from 1980 to 1990 thereabouts and weallways got on very well with the Blues, probably because we allwaystreated them with respect, we were never the ("well, i'm here, entertain me!!)types, also perhaps because of the number of times wevisited the camp each year. Anyway, one afternoon we invited the thenentertainments manager Robert Towell and Craig down to the caravansite for a bite to eat, they came, together with two other blues. What they did next struck us with horror, they only went round allthe other caravans begging for food, saying we were very poor and hadrun out of money so would have to cut short our holiday. They werevery sucessful at begging, they came back to our caravan loaded upwith all sorts of goodies, so we all got stuck in. We had to keep ourheads down for the rest of the day but when we went into the shipthat night Robert publicly thanked us for a very nice meal and evenpointed us out in the audience!!, We had many conversations withRobert and other blues whereby they would confide in us about thingsthat were obviously taboo but i think they must have trusted us tokeep mum, just in case. I know it wasn't all fun and games atMiddleton. Not sure where Robert is now but i hope he is in goodhealth and still entertaining people in his own inimitable manner.Anyone remember Roberts auctions?, they were allways good for a laugh. All the best folks,Mike.

Bed time for kids

I remember when it was getting to be bedtime for kids on camp and wewere all shuffled of to our chalets. If a child was crying a boardused to flash up ' child crying in chalet no. ???' in the ballroom andBerengaria for the parents to go and check.Makes you think that a child left alone in a chalet by themselvesthese days would be frowned on. Social Services would proberly becalled in lol. Ahhh the good old days.
